It is a monographic museum about bullfighting in Linares. It is named after the matador Rafael Molina Lagartijo, a bullfighter from Córdoba from the 19th century. It is located in a building which dates from 1795. The construction still preserves the original well and courtyard of the era. The tavern contains an exhibition related to bullfighting. A series of memories about Manolete’s fatal goring in the arena of Linares in 1947 stands out.
“El Lagartijo” Tavern-Museum-Restaurant is an amazing tavern devoted to bullfighting and it was inaugurated in March, 1980. There you can taste an excellent traditional cuisine in a touristic and cultural atmosphere, decorated with posters, photos and bullfighting objects. Culture, tourism and gastronomy live together in a typical Andalusian environment.
The building has two areas. The first one is the Tavern, which is dedicated to taste tapas and dishes. In this atmosphere, you can enjoy the typical cuisine of the tavern, surrounded by a large amount of bullfighting objects such as photos, posters and bullfighting dresses.
And the second one is the Museum and the Restaurant, where you can enjoy a gourmet menu with typical and traditional dishes, especially meats, stews and baked food.
