Mining Interpretation Centre

0

It is located in the old loading zone of the Madrid Railway Station. This centre contains a permanent exhibition of the mining activity. In it, visitors will be able to learn through its different rooms how mining has been expanded in our territory, the relationship between it and its different populations as well as the value of the remains that have been found throughout time. Thus, it aims to be the beginning of those itineraries that lead visitors to the real museum, the mining landscape.

The Mining Interpretation Centre is divided into five rooms that, through panels and interactive media, give visitors an idea of what mining was like in Linares.

ROOM 1. Territory
This room hosts the great mock-up model of the territory which welcomes visitors. It has an area of about 12 m2. It represents the district in a 1:10.000 scale and it has a laser signalling system as well as some monitors which show information about the emplacement of the most important remains.

ROOM 2. The mining district
Here, an explanation of the origin and evolution of the mining district is provided, together with its historic records, its division in concessions and the basic description of the activities inside galleries.

ROOM 3. City and mines
This space is consecrated to the close connection between the city and mines, the economic activities that come from mining, the evolution of the urban areas, the emigration, the development of the daily life and the types of houses built to host miners and their families.

ROOM 4. The mining activities
A corridor in the shape of a longitudinal gallery describes the mining activities, the clothes, the working tools and the working equipment used in different eras.

ROOM 5. A remarkable heritage
This room introduces visitors in the processes of separation, treatment and preparation of the mineral which will give them an idea of all the methods used to bring the metal to its purest state.

This Interpretation Centre also has a Tourist Information Point and a multi-function room room to host presentations, projections and temporary exhibitions.
