The Feast of St Bárbara, patron saint of the miners, intends to recover an old event that used to take place every 4th December in our city.
Every year, the departments of Tourism and Historical Heritage of the City Council of Linares organise a feast that, as in years past, gathers the mining community both of Linares and the northern region of the province: miners, businesspeople, engineers and students of the School of Mines and the Polytechnic College.
Maderistas from the whole mining district used to come to compete in the famous contest that awarded the best structure made in the shortest time. In each edition, we can enjoy an exhibition related to that extinct job that was so important to secure the stability of the galleries. At the same time, geology lovers can contemplate real treasures extracted from the Earth during the Mineral Show.
All that is possible thanks to groups and citizens that selflessly contribute to these initiatives, such as the celebration of this feast that is typical of our Intangible Cultural Heritage.
