The City Council of Linares, the Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Merchants and Manufacturers (ACIL) and the City Centre Shopping Area launched some time ago the Tapas Route. More than twenty bars and restaurants participate in this initiative to promote year after year the city through its best gastronomy. Clients get a rutero which is sealed in every bar. At the end of the route, clients receive a gift and participate in some prize draws. Moreover, at the end of this event, the three bars or restaurants with the best and the most innovative tapas are elected by the citizens.
The Tapas Route has become one of the greatest touristic attractions of the city. Those that participate in this route are neighbours and outsiders who go from bar to bar. Their main aim is to taste the delicious gastronomic miniatures prepared in Linares.
This route is not only a festivity but it is also a way of promoting the city beyond its borders. So it is common that this route attracts year after year visitors, tourists, travellers and those people willing to taste the cuisine of Linares.
The Tapas Route is celebrated at the end of November and at the beginning of December, being a kind of introduction to Christmas. However, tapas are present throughout the whole year.
