Linares commemorates every year its past thanks to the Iberian-Roman Festival of Cástulo, an unforgettable historical recreation.
The Iberian-Roman Festival of Cástulo is a touristic-cultural event which aims to recreate the past of the Iberian-Roman City of Cástulo, together with its rituals, customs, gastronomy and traditions.
A large programme with lots of activities makes Linares and the Archaeological Site of Cástulo evoke its Iberian-Roman past. The identity mark of this festival is the recreation of a Roman settlement, workshops, parades, fighting techniques, gastronomy, meetings, guided visits and gladiator fights. This event is part of the touristic-cultural route of Viaje al Tiempo de los Iberos. These recreations are carried out by groups of people devoted to historical representations from all over Spain, but especially form Linares.
It is an initiative developed by the City Council of Linares together with the County Council of Jaén, the Chamber of Commerce of Linares and the Association of Merchants and Manufacturers of Linares.
